My Epic, Embarrassing, Shockingly Successful Ploy to Get My Friend a Date Using A.I.
"Would you like to go out again?" asked the former woodworker, who likes intense, rambling conversations. "Yes, but first I have to tell you something," said the woman seeking someone to laugh with in the face of life's mysteries. And then she explained that it was not her who'd originally set up her profile and arranged the date--it was ChatGPT. And some woman he'd never met. I am to blame--or to credit, if date No. 2 goes well--for this scenario, which occurred last month in a bar in New York. It was just one of quite a few exchanges that I facilitated, using some supposedly transformative A.I. tools, for a friend who (perhaps unwisely!) had given me the keys to her Tinder and Bumble accounts. Here are some examples of A.I.-generated openers I considered โฆ If you were a vegetable, you'd be a cutecumber. I've been reading a book on anti-gravity lately. It's impossible to put down.
AI & Blockchain: An Introduction
I invest in early-stage technology startups, mostly at the Series A level, anywhere in the US and in Europe. I feel incredibly privileged to get to partner with outstanding entrepreneurs, and I work hard to help them succeed. I also believe in the power of community and try to do my bit to help inspire and connect people. I run two large and fast-growing monthly events: * Data Driven NYC: a 11,000 member group focused on Big Data and artificial intelligence * Hardwired NYC: a 4,500 member group focused on frontier tech and emerging computing platforms (Internet of Things, AR, VR, drones, 3D printing, robotics, etc.). I invest in early-stage technology startups, mostly at the Series A level, anywhere in the US and in Europe.
UK Artificial Intelligence activity map (via Passle)
As a UK-focused venture capital investor, Oxford Capital is fortunate that the UK is a world leader in AI (although to avoid topical accusations of British exceptionalism, it's definitely worth mentioning that there are centres of excellence in AI and machine learning (ML) throughout Europe). We have just completed an as-yet undisclosed investment in the AI space, and we're evaluating several other opportunities. Along with taking an interest in AI companies that approach us for funding, we've mapped out recent activity in the sector across the UK. Innovation starts with talented individuals, and AI is no exception. Many of the UK's most respected universities have AI research groups, such as the Intelligent Systems group within UCL and the joint Oxford-Cambridge Strategic AI Research Centre.
